
Noida, June 21 -- A head constable died and another was injured after a police escort vehicle accompanying the convoy of Mant constituency BJP MLA Rajesh Chaudhary from Mathura collided with a truck coming from the wrong side on the Yamuna Expressway in Jewar on Sunday, police said.
According to police, a Bolero vehicle and the dumper truck were damaged.
The truck allegedly travelled on the wrong side, and the incident occurred on the expressway under the limits of the Jewar Police Station near the Noida International Airport, police said.
"After receiving information, a police team immediately reached the spot and the injured personnel were taken to a hospital," officials said.
Police said during treatment, doctors declared Head Constable Rajendra Singh Yadav, attached with Mathura Police Lines, dead, while another injured policeman, Head Constable Sultan Singh, sustained minor injuries.
Police said they detained the driver, seized the dumper, and lodged a case against the accused.
They said senior police officials and the force are present at the spot.
