Kolkata, Aug. 27 -- The Calcutta High Court is set to take up on Monday a fresh application linked to the recent violence and vandalism at Jadavpur University, bringing renewed focus on the long-pending issue of restricting the entry of outsiders into the campus.
The application has been moved in connection with a 2025 public interest litigation that had raised concerns over campus security and sought measures to prevent unauthorised persons from entering the university premises.
Earlier proceedings in the matter had also considered restrictions on entry and the need for stronger security arrangements.
The fresh plea was mentioned before Acting Chief Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty on Thursday.
The court asked the advocate concerned to serve a fresh copy of the application on the state, noting that the panel of lawyers representing the government had changed following the change in political dispensation after the May 4 election results.
The matter will now be heard on Monday amid continuing scrutiny of security arrangements at the university following the recent campus unrest.
