Chandigarh, May 14 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said the state would achieve the targets of 'Viksit Bharat-2047' ahead of schedule and stressed the need for coordinated efforts by all departments to strengthen healthcare delivery and disease prevention systems.
Reviewing the five-year implementation roadmap and action plan prepared by the Health Department, the Chief Minister said departments should seek support from world-class professional teams and adopt modern technologies on the lines of developed nations and states to accelerate implementation of welfare schemes. He said the government's aim was to ensure accessible, affordable and safe healthcare for every citizen.
Saini directed officials to work towards significantly reducing infant and maternal mortality rates in the state. He proposed the establishment of a round-the-clock centralised control room, functioning like a war room, for daily monitoring of the health of pregnant women and infants to prevent lapses in care. He also asked officials to prepare a detailed action plan for children's health.
The Chief Minister emphasised the need for complete online records of medicines in hospitals so that prescriptions and stock updates are monitored in real time to avoid shortages. He said approval had already been granted for procurement of 70 ambulances to strengthen emergency healthcare services.
Saini further directed that health check-ups should be extended to children studying in private schools in
addition to government schools and Anganwadi centres. He also stressed awareness campaigns on healthy living among children.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr Sumita Misra informed the meeting that free chemotherapy was being provided through Day-Care Cancer Centres for patients referred by medical colleges.
The Chief Minister directed installation of mammography machines in every district for cancer screening.
Saini also called for intensified efforts to make every ward and village TB-free by 2030 through early detection, large-scale screening and proper treatment. He asked departments to focus more on disease prevention, balanced nutrition, mental health support and de-addiction awareness.
He further directed officials to explore PPP models for medical colleges, upgrade trauma centres to Level-1 and Level-2 standards and promote plantation drives under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign across hospitals and medical campuses.
