India, Aug. 3 -- Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday congratulated Indian athletes for their medal-winning performances at the Commonwealth Games, saying Haryana's sportspersons had once again brought glory to the country. He said the achievements reflected the sports policy, infrastructure and academies established during the Congress government, which transformed Haryana into a sports hub and encouraged young talent. Hooda alleged that the BJP government had weakened the sports policy, depriving athletes of due rewards, honours, appointments and promotions. He claimed several international medallists were yet to receive high-ranking government posts, while athletes appointed as DSPs during the Congress regime had not been promoted. He demanded that all Commonwealth Games medallists be immediately appointed to senior positions, including DSPs.
