Udaipur, Oct. 7 -- Hindustan Zinc Limited has reported more than 50 per cent year-on-year growth in transaction value on its digital commerce platform Vedanta Metal Bazaar (VMB) during the first half of FY27, as metal procurement increasingly shifts towards technology-driven platforms.
The platform, launched in 2022, enables customers to discover products, access live prices, place orders and manage transactions digitally. Hindustan Zinc said customers across more than 500 cities in 23 states are using the platform.
Digital transactions on VMB also increased by more than 40 per cent year-on-year during the first half of FY27. The platform integrates procurement processes including LME-linked price discovery, ordering, payments, invoicing, dispatch planning and shipment tracking.
The company said features such as Zinc Moolya and Lead Moolya provide market-linked INR price discovery, particularly benefiting MSMEs and small-volume buyers seeking greater transparency in procurement.
Hindustan Zinc CEO Amarendu Prakash said digitalisation was helping make metal procurement simpler and more accessible, particularly for MSMEs that play an important role in India's manufacturing ecosystem.
The company, which operates an integrated mine-to-metal business, offers products including Special High-Grade Zinc, High-Grade Zinc, EcoZen low-carbon zinc, Prime Western Zinc and Continuous Galvanizing Grade Zinc, besides lead and die-casting alloys.
