New Delhi, Oct. 28 -- A skill training and employment centre, a new police station and a high-capacity power substation are among the key infrastructure projects approved by the Greater Noida Authority board on Wednesday, as the city looks to strengthen its industrial ecosystem and create better employment opportunities for local youth.

The board approved the development of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Skill Training and Employment Centre on around eight acres in the Ecotech-1 industrial area. Greater Noida Authority CEO Ravi Kumar NG said the authority would identify a suitable plot and allot it free of cost after obtaining the consent of the department of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).

The centre is part of the Uttar Pradesh government's recently approved skill training and employment initiative, which aims to connect young people with jobs in India and abroad. The state's three-year scheme has an estimated outlay of Rs 1,725 crore and envisages an integrated training and placement network across all 75 districts through nine employment zones. Gautam Buddh Nagar is among five locations where centres are planned in the first phase.

The proposed facility will offer technical and non-technical skill development, language

training and placement assistance, helping candidates acquire skills suited to industrial and service-sector requirements.

The board also approved the allotment of around 4,000 square metres of land free of cost in Kasna village, in Ecotech-1 Extension, for a police station.

The facility is expected to strengthen law enforcement in the industrial belt, which houses several operational industrial units, and address the security requirements of employees, entrepreneurs and residents. The land allotment is expected to facilitate the next steps towards setting up the police station.
