Kolkata, Oct. 25 -- Emirates has reportedly expanded its operations from Kolkata with the introduction of its Airbus A350 aircraft on the Kolkata-Dubai route, raising its weekly flight frequency between the two cities from 11 to 12.

The A350 is a wide-body aircraft designed for long-haul operations. The new aircraft arrived at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, on Sunday, where it received a ceremonial water cannon salute to mark its entry into service on the route, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said.

The deployment adds a new aircraft type to Emirates' Kolkata operations while increasing the number of weekly flights available to passengers travelling to Dubai. The additional service is expected to provide greater flexibility for travellers from eastern India, particularly those connecting through Dubai to destinations across the airline's international network.

Kolkata Airport Director Vikram Singh welcomed the expansion, pointing to the growing demand for international air travel as a factor behind the development.

He also conveyed his best wishes to the Emirates team and passengers using the new service.

The latest addition strengthens Emirates' presence in Kolkata, which serves as an important international gateway for eastern India.

The increased frequency also provides passengers with another weekly option on the busy Kolkata-Dubai sector, connecting the city to one of the world's major

aviation hubs.
