New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- The Delhi government has launched infrastructure projects worth around Rs 170 crore across nine industrial areas, covering nearly 15 km of roads and 34 km of stormwater drainage systems, to address long-standing civic deficiencies and improve industrial connectivity.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the projects at Rajasthani Udyog Nagar Industrial Area on Tuesday, assuring that there would
be no shortage of funds for industrial development. She said the government aimed to improve road conditions, prevent waterlogging and ensure that no industrial area was left out of the development process.
The projects will also include underground utility ducts for electricity, water, telecommunications and other services to minimise repeated
excavation of roads. The government expects the upgrades to improve traffic movement, reduce dust and vehicle-related pollution, and create better conditions for industrial operations.
Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said several industrial areas had suffered from inadequate infrastructure for years, leaving roads in poor condition. He stressed that the initiative would focus not only on construction but also on regular maintenance to ensure the
infrastructure remained in good condition over the long term.
The projects cover Rajasthani Udyog Nagar, GTK Udyog Nagar, Naraina Industrial Area, Lawrence Road, Najafgarh (Rama Road), DLF Moti Nagar, Nangloi Jat and S-Block, and Okhla Phase II, among other locations.
Sirsa said improved roads, drainage and utility management would facilitate the movement of goods, enhance
business efficiency and support investment and employment generation across Delhi's industrial areas.
