Kolkata, July 26 -- The West Bengal government is considering a major technological upgrade to streamline attendance for its employees. Under the proposed system, employees will be able to mark their attendance using their mobile phones while being physically present within the designated geographical boundary of their respective offices.

According to a recent directive from the state Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, various state government departments may soon introduce a software-based, geo-fenced biometric attendance system that will not require dedicated hardware.

The system is expected to reduce the need for expensive hardware infrastructure, making it a cost-effective and quicker solution to implement. All departments have been asked to take the necessary steps and contact WTL (Webel Technology Ltd) or WEBEL for further action.
