Alipurduar, Oct. 13 -- Government bus services on the Alipurduar-Totopara route resumed on Tuesday after nearly six months, bringing relief to residents ahead of Durga Puja and the Chief Minister's scheduled visit to Totopara on November 15.

The prolonged suspension had caused difficulties for residents, particularly students travelling to colleges in Alipurduar and neighbouring areas. The resumption is expected to ease their daily commute.

Bakul Toto, a Totopara resident, welcomed the decision. "This is very good news. Government bus services on this route were stopped for reasons unknown to us. Their resumption will greatly benefit residents, especially students travelling elsewhere for higher education," he said.

According to the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC), poor road conditions during the monsoon had made bus operations difficult, forcing the service to remain suspended. Students are also entitled to free travel under the scheme.

Acting on CM's instructions, the district magistrate recently visited the area to assess residents' problems, with transport infrastructure emerging as a major concern.
