New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- Former Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha has been appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with the Directorate of Home Guards, Delhi, and will take over as its Director General from October 1, 2026, following the superannuation of incumbent DG Virender Singh. According to an order, Golchha, a 1992-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, will serve as OSD with the Directorate of Home Guards until September 30, 2026. He will assume charge as DG, Home Guards, Delhi, from Singh on October 1.
For the purpose of drawing his salary after taking charge as DG, Home Guards, the Delhi Police will take Golchha on its strength against an available post, the order said.
Golchha was recently removed as Delhi Police Commissioner and posted as DG, Home Guards, Delhi. The order does not specify any reason for his transfer from the Delhi Police, indicating that it was not a punishment posting.
An officer of the 1992 AGMUT cadre, Golchha has held several key assignments within the Delhi Police and elsewhere during his career.
Meanwhile, Singh, a 1991-batch AGMUT IPS officer, will retire from service on September 30, 2026, after which Golchha will succeed him.
