New Delhi, Oct. 28 -- The NEET PG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment list, released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), shows that General Medicine accounted for the highest number of allotments among the first 100 entries, followed by Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology. Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy ranked next, followed by Paediatrics, General Surgery, Nuclear Medicine and Orthopaedics. The number of allotments in the remaining specialties was considerably lower.

The figures highlight the prominence of General Medicine and Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology in the initial entries of the Round 1 allotment list. However, they do not establish why candidates opted for these specialties or whether the same pattern holds across the entire list.

Seat allotments depend on several factors, including candidates' preferences, NEET PG ranks, seat availability, eligibility criteria and reservation quotas. The first 100 entries, therefore, offer only a snapshot of the allotment pattern and cannot be taken as representative of the preferences of all NEET PG candidates.

The official document covers both MD and MS courses, as well as programmes offered by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Notably, the NBEMS General Medicine programme is listed separately from MD General Medicine.

The data is drawn from the official NEET PG Counselling Seats Allotment 2026 Round 1 document, dated October 23, 2026. The first 100 allotments extend up to NEET PG rank 104. The MCC is conducting NEET PG counselling in multiple rounds, with Round 2 registration scheduled to begin on November 6.
