
Lucknow, Aug. 27 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has announced free bus travel for women across the state from August 27 to 29 for Raksha Bandhan. Each woman can also travel with one companion under the special arrangement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to ensure safe and smooth travel. Anti-Romeo Squads will remain deployed around major routes and bus stations, while drivers will be checked for intoxication.
In Lucknow region, UPSRTC will operate 979 ordinary and AC buses, with additional services on major routes and 50 buses kept in reserve.
Northern Railway will also run special trains between Chandigarh-Lucknow and Delhi-Varanasi via Lucknow to manage the festival rush.
