Kolkata, April 20 -- Tension gripped the Nayansukh Maniknagar area of Farakka, Murshidabad, following an explosion on the roof of a Congress worker's residence this Monday.

According to sources, the blast occurred at the home of Saimul Sheikh, a resident of Nayansukh's booth 136 and cousin of Farakka's CPI(M) candidate, Muzaffar Hossain. Masons were working on the property when the detonation happened.

Although no injuries were reported, the roof sustained significant damage. Allegations suggest the Congress worker had stored several crude bombs on the roof, which subsequently ignited.

Shortly after the blast, a large contingent of police and central force personnel arrived. An investigation is underway, with two individuals detained. Local TMC leaders claimed the Congress is attempting to spread terror, anticipating electoral defeat. Conversely, Congress leadership denied these claims, alleging a conspiracy by the ruling party.
