India, Aug. 5 -- The Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested a 59-year-old loan facilitator for allegedly orchestrating a property loan fraud of around Rs 3 crore using forged title documents, impersonation and shell companies to dupe a non-banking financial company (NBFC), officials said on Tuesday. The accused, Maneesh Kumar, was arrested from Laxmi Nagar on July 14. The case was registered on a complaint by a private finance company, which alleged that a housing loan of about Rs 3 crore was fraudulently obtained for a property in Anand Vihar. The EOW said a November 2022 sale deed was based on forged documents and executed by a woman impersonating the genuine owner. She allegedly executed two fraudulent sale deeds for the same property within 25 days. Investigators alleged Kumar posed as the buyer, used forged identities and documents to secure loans, and created shell firms to divert the proceeds. He also allegedly falsely projected a deceased woman as his wife and co-applicant. Police recovered mobile phones, SIM cards, digital signature certificates, cheque books, POS machines and other documents. Further investigation is underway.
