Kolkata, Sept. 21 -- Eastern Railway recorded its highest punctuality rate of the current financial year on Sunday, with 91.87 per cent of its Mail/Express trains running on time.
Of the 228 Mail/Express trains operated across the Eastern Railway system on September 20, 203 ran on time, while 18 were delayed marginally and seven were diverted due to operational requirements.
Eastern Railway said continuous monitoring of train movements, traffic regulation and coordination among different units helped achieve the performance.
The Railways said it would continue to focus on improving punctuality and operational efficiency while ensuring safe and reliable train services.
