Gurugram, July 15 -- A 57-year-old domestic worker was allegedly crushed to death after being run over by an SUV while she was resting in the parking area of a residence in Gurugram's Sector 65. Police said they were alerted to the incident through a PCR call received at Sector 65 Police Station.
The deceased, identified as Guddi (57), was a native of Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, Guddi worked as a domestic help at house number 4011. After finishing her household chores on Tuesday afternoon, she was resting in the parking area when the incident occurred between 2 pm and 2.20 pm.
Police said the owner of the house was attempting to reverse her Mahindra Thar out of the parking area when the vehicle allegedly ran over Guddi, who was sleeping on the ground.
The driver reportedly realised she had struck something after feeling an impact and immediately got out of the vehicle.
On discovering that Guddi had been crushed, the accused rushed her to a nearby private hospital.
After doctors declared the 57-year-old dead, she allegedly brought the body back to the residence, left it at the spot where the accident had occurred, and drove away without informing the police or neighbours, officials said.
Local residents later noticed Guddi lying in the parking area and alerted the police.
A team from Sector 65 Police Station reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police said they have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the residence and the parking area to establish the sequence of events.
Investigators are also looking into whether there was any negligence or attempt to conceal the incident after the accident.
Officials said the accused is being questioned to ascertain the exact circumstances of the case. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the evidence collected during the probe.
