Kolkata, Sept. 24 -- On Friday, the campus of Sister Nivedita University (SNU) in New Town will reverberate with the soulful strains of Baul music as renowned Baul performer and spiritual teacher Parvathy Das Baul transports the audience into a mystical and spiritual world.
Come Friday and Saturday, Kolkatans can witness an enthralling celebration of Indian classical music and folk at the Dover Lane Music Conference in association with SNU and Techno India Group.
TIG and Dover Lane have partnered to bridge academia and Indian classical arts, agreeing in November 2025 to jointly curate an annual signature cultural event with SNU from 2026.
The two-day SNU showcase marks the collaboration's first major event, featuring SNU performers and Dover Lane artistes. It also aims to take classical music and dance to Techno India campuses across and beyond Bengal. After the inauguration, the programme will feature a harmonium recital by Suvendu Banerjee, with tabla accompaniment by Arunava Mukherjee, followed by a folk performance by Parvathy Das Baul.
Saturday's programme will feature a Mohan Veena recital by Joydeep Mukherjee of SNU. Students and faculty members of SNU will present 'Raage Anuraage'.
The programme will also feature a special SNU classical dance presentation titled 'Unity in Diversity'. The evening will conclude with a santoor recital by Sandip Chatterjee, accompanied on tabla by Rupak Bhattacharjee.
"The logo of the Dover Lane Music Conference also has Baul, and this programme is dedicated to Baul music. It is about going back to our roots," said Santanu Chatterjee, General Secretary, Dover Lane Music Conference. He also thanked Techno India Group co-founder and Managing Director Satyam Roychowdhury, who is also the Chancellor of SNU, for his continued support for the promotion of Indian classical music and the preservation of the arts.
