New Delh, Sept. 16 -- The Delhi government will organise four programmes centred on service and public participation on Thursday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, including the lighting of 1.25 lakh diyas at Kartavya Path, a mega blood donation camp, a 108-kund yagya and the launch of 'Namo Shramik Seva Kendra'.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the programmes will be part of the month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', being organised to mark 25 years of the Prime Minister's public life.
The campaign will also see inauguration and foundation stone-laying for projects related to transport, roads, sewerage, water treatment, education, electricity, public facilities and urban beautification, according to the government. Under the 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' campaign, 1.25 lakh diyas will be lit at Kartavya Path at 7 pm.
The government said beneficiaries of welfare schemes and other citizens will participate in the programme. Gupta has also appealed to Delhi residents to light diyas at their homes between 6 pm and 7 pm.
At Thyagaraj Stadium, a blood donation camp will be held from 11 am to 5 pm, with a target of collecting 2,500 units. Blood banks from 11
Delhi government hospitals, along with the Army Hospital, Lady Hardinge College, Safdarjung Hospital and the Indian
Red Cross Society, will participate.
A 108-kund yagya will be organised at Khatu Shyam Delhi Dham on GT Karnal Road in Alipur. Visually impaired children will also recite the Hanuman Chalisa during the programme.
