India, Aug. 5 -- Delhi has witnessed a decline in dengue, malaria and chikungunya cases compared to last year, with no deaths reported from the three diseases so far in 2026, even as the city recorded nine fresh dengue cases and four malaria cases in the week ending August 1, according to the latest MCD report. As of August 1, Delhi has recorded 221 dengue cases, down from 291 cases reported during the corresponding period last year. Malaria cases have seen a drop, with 66 cases registered so far this year compared to 135 cases in the same timeframe in 2025. Chikungunya cases stand at 14, lower than the 20 cases recorded during this period last year. Also Read - Factory wall collapse kills two firefighters According to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) weekly report, no fatalities have been attributed to any of the three vector-borne illnesses so far in 2026. For the week ending August 1, the capital logged nine fresh dengue cases, four new malaria cases, and zero Chikungunya cases. A detailed break-up of the local data shows that within the MCD zones, west Delhi has recorded the highest number of dengue cases this season at 37, followed by central Delhi 29 and Civil Lines and Shahdara North 21 cases each. For malaria, west Delhi also reported the highest cumulative tally at 17 cases, followed by south Delhi with 11 cases.
