India, Aug. 24 -- Monsoon activity intensified across North India on Monday, with heavy rain and strong winds lashing Delhi and adjoining NCR areas, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. The adverse weather conditions also disrupted flight operations at Delhi airport, with 12 flights diverted to Jaipur International Airport so far. The disruptions came as heavy showers and strong winds affected conditions across the national capital and neighbouring areas. Heavy rainfall also led to traffic disruptions at several locations in Delhi-NCR. Gurugram and Faridabad were among the areas witnessing intense showers, while Noida and Ghaziabad also received significant rainfall. In Delhi, traffic movement was severely affected on MB Road near Sangam Vihar, particularly between Vayusenabad and Sangam Vihar. Commuters reported being stuck for extended periods, with congestion also affecting people travelling towards the airport and other parts of the city. Ghaziabad witnessed waterlogging near the Industrial Area underpass on NH-9, where vehicles struggled to pass through accumulated rainwater. The India Meteorological Department has forecast further rainfall across Delhi-NCR and several other parts of North India. Heavy rain is also expected in parts of Uttarakhand, Odisha and Telangana, with weather conditions likely to continue affecting normal movement in some areas.
