New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Days after a teenage girl was gang-raped on a moving bus in Noida, the Delhi government plans to adopt a GPS to monitor buses entering the national capital from neighbouring states in real-time and facilitate swift action in emergencies, the government said on Monday.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the city government plans to link the GPS systems of buses entering Delhi from neighbouring states with the relevant Delhi government department's system.
The chief minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident and said the role of the bus driver and conductor was a matter of concern.
She said, "The Delhi government would hold discussions with neighbouring states to strengthen further the safety of women and children travelling by buses to and from the national Capital."
The crime, which brought back painful memories of the 2012 gang-rape and murder in Delhi known as the Nirbhaya case, took place on the night of August 4.
Upset after being scolded by her mother, the girl left home and boarded a bus for Noida Sector 63, where her cousin lives, police said.
