India, July 28 -- The Delhi government has decided to hike financial assistance for large Kanwar camps from the current Rs 11 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and to continue free electricity up to 1,200 units, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday. The government is set to take a major decision to make Kanwar Yatra this year more organised, safe, and convenient for the devotees, she said in a Delhi CMO statement. The hike in monetary help to kanwar samitis has been announced keeping in view the rising number of pilgrims, inflation and the increasing cost of running Kanwar camps, the government said. The chief minister announced Rs 15 lakh for camps spread over more than 20,000 square feet and operating for 6 to 12 days.

Assistance for camps of the same size operating for 3 to 5 days will be up from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. Camps spread over 15,001 to 20,000 square feet will receive Rs 8 lakh instead of Rs 4 lakh for a duration of 3 to 5 days, while assistance for camps operating for 6 to 12 days will increase from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. For camps between 10,001 and 15,000 square feet, the assistance will be raised from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh for 3 to 5 days, and from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 8 lakh for 6 to 12 days. Camps measuring 5,001 to 10,000 square feet will receive Rs 3 lakh instead of Rs 2.50 lakh for 3 to 5 days and Rs 5 lakh instead of Rs 4 lakh for 6 to 12 days. Smaller camps of up to 5,000 square feet will receive Rs 2 lakh instead of Rs 1.50 lakh for 3 to 5 days and Rs 3 lakh instead of Rs 2 lakh for 6 to 12 days, the chief minister's office said. Gupta said the number of kanwar camps have increased from 170 in 2024 to 308 in 2025. Kanwar samitis will continue to receive free electricity of up to 1,200 units, the government said. Power discoms BSES and TPDDL will ensure timely electricity connections and complete all required formalities before the Yatra begins, it said. The chief minister said the advance instalment and the final instalment of the grant will be released directly by the office of the district magistrate.
