New Delhi, Oct. 17 -- A high-level meeting was held on October 14, 2026, at the Delhi Secretariat with principals and representatives of all 12 Delhi government fully funded colleges. The session focused on reviewing budget allocations for hostels and sports facilities, speeding up infrastructure projects, and expanding college capacities. The Education minister Ashish Sood noted that budget allocations for sports is under consideration to enhance from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakhs to boost athletic activities.

To enhance coaching standards, a proposal was raised to involve private sports academies in colleges. On this, the minister noted, "The Education Department is examining issues for the engagement of private academies in schools, and once finalized, the same shall be implemented in DHE/TTE." Discussions covered constructing new buildings and hostels within existing college premises using updated master plans.

Noting that old proposals tied to the Master Plan 2021 are redundant, Sood directed, "Building plans must be prepared as per the New Master Plan 2041 and New FAR." The minister further emphasised long-term planning, directing colleges to "devise a plan for the expansion of buildings and hostels with a vision for the next 20 years of student intake.
