New Delhi, Sept. 21 -- The Delhi government is considering an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and will organise felicitation programmes across all 70 Assembly constituencies from September 23 as part of its Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday.
The programme, 'Aangan Ka Milan', will see Anganwadi workers, helpers, beneficiaries, children, pregnant and lactating women, parents and community representatives participate in constituency-level events. Around 25,000 invitations are being sent out, with nearly 500 people proposed to attend each programme.
Gupta said Anganwadi workers form a key link between government services and children and women at the grassroots level and their contribution needed to be recognised.
The government is also considering increasing their honorarium, she said, without specifying the proposed amount or timeline for the revision.
A special felicitation kit worth Rs 2,500 has been prepared for Anganwadi workers. It will include a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch and umbrella. The kits will be presented to frontline workers during the Assembly-level programmes.
The events will also include a nutrition pledge and have been linked with the ninth National Nutrition Month 2026, being observed from September 17 to October 17 under the Centre-sponsored Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan scheme.
This year's theme is 'Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari'.
The programme seeks to promote nutrition awareness and community participation, while the proposed honorarium hike and felicitation events aim to recognise Anganwadi workers'
role and strengthen grassroots support. mpost
