India, Aug. 17 -- The Delhi government has initiated steps to implement a paperless e-Cabinet system, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday holding a meeting with experts from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to discuss a secure digital platform for Cabinet functioning. According to the government, the proposed system will enable Cabinet notes, meeting agendas, annexures, decisions and minutes to be prepared, shared and stored digitally. Ministers and senior officials will be able to access the documents securely on tablets during Cabinet meetings, while role-based access will ensure that only authorised officials can view relevant files. It will also facilitate monitoring of the implementation of Cabinet decisions to ensure time-bound execution. During the meeting, NIC experts briefed the Chief Minister on the functioning of similar systems already operational in several states, where they have helped improve administrative efficiency and transparency. Emphasising the need for technology-driven governance, Gupta said, "The Delhi Government aims to develop a system that simplifies government processes, enables faster decision-making and allows continuous monitoring of their implementation."
