India, June 30 -- The Delhi Government on Monday launched 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi - Cooperative Week 2026' at the Delhi Secretariat to mark five years of the establishment of the Union Ministry of Cooperation. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the week-long campaign by flagging off a Cooperative Awareness Van and releasing colourful balloons to spread awareness about the cooperative movement across the capital. The event was attended by Cooperation Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh, Ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Ashish Sood, senior officials of the Cooperation Department and representatives of cooperative institutions. Street plays and public awareness activities were also organised on the Secretariat premises. The Delhi Government is fully committed to taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi' to every citizen." She expressed confidence that the campaign would encourage greater public participation in cooperative activities and contribute to Delhi's economic and social development. Cooperation Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said the government was strengthening the cooperative sector through technology, digital services and transparent governance. "Modern, transparent and digital cooperative governance will provide a new dimension to economic empowerment. Our aim is to make cooperative institutions more accountable, efficient and citizen-centric so that better services can be delivered to the people," he said. The minister announced that Cooperative Week will feature awareness campaigns, Cooperative Awareness Vans, seminars, panel discussions, online and offline quiz competitions, and tree plantation drives across Delhi. Nearly 10,000 saplings will be planted at locations including Narela, Dwarka and Rohini, while dialogues involving cooperative institutions, experts and citizens will also be organised. Appealing for public participation, Singh said, "Our endeavour is to encourage more citizens to become part of the cooperative movement and use it as a pathway to their economic and social progress. Only through collective efforts can the vision of Viksit Delhi and Viksit Bharat 2047 be realised." The week-long celebrations will conclude on July 6 with a grand ceremony honouring outstanding cooperative institutions, competition winners and individuals for their contributions to the cooperative sector.
