NEW DELHI, May 25 -- Delhi's public healthcare system received a major boost on Monday after two prominent government hospitals, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital and Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital, secured National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification from the Government of India.

According to the Delhi government, LNJP Hospital scored 95.89 per cent, while Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital achieved 96.72 per cent in the national quality assessment conducted under the Union Health Ministry's NQAS framework.

The certification was awarded after evaluation across multiple healthcare parameters including OPD services, ICU care, blood bank facilities, labour rooms, radiology, laboratories, emergency services and maternal healthcare.

Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh termed the achievement a reflection of the government's commitment towards strengthening public healthcare services in the national capital.

"This national recognition is a testament to our continuous efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure quality, patient-centric services in Delhi's government hospitals," he said. Targeting the previous AAP government, the minister said, "Unlike the previous government, we believe in work, not empty promises. For years, Delhi's healthcare system suffered due to lack of vision, accountability and meaningful reforms." Dr. Singh said the government was focusing on improving hospital hygiene, medical infrastructure and access to diagnostic services under the

Kayakalp initiative.

He announced that 14 MRI machines and more than 25 ultrasound machines would soon be installed across Delhi government hospitals.

"Advanced healthcare services are being ensured across Delhi Government hospitals, and it remains our commitment that every individual should have easy access to treatment," he said. Officials said the planned expansion of MRI and ultrasound facilities would strengthen diagnostic capacity and reduce inconvenience faced by patients.

The Delhi government said the certification reflects its efforts under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's leadership to improve healthcare standards, patient experience and medical infrastructure in public hospitals.

The achievement is being seen as an important step in Delhi's push towards a more citizen-centric healthcare system and the broader vision of "Swasth Delhi, Sashakt Delhi."
