India, April 28 -- The Delhi government organised an Ayushman Arogya Shivir at Delhi Government Dispensary (DGD) Bakarwala as part of the ongoing TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, focusing on early detection and awareness of tuberculosis. The camp, held near JJ Colony Bakarwala, aimed to strengthen community outreach and provide accessible healthcare services. Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh reiterated the government's commitment to eliminating TB and highlighted the importance of timely diagnosis. "Tuberculosis remains a significant public health challenge, but it is both preventable and curable with timely intervention. Through initiatives like the Ayushman Arogya Shivirs, we are taking healthcare closer to the people, focusing on early detection and awareness," he said. Also Read - Delhi records season's first warm night; respite likely with rain forecast During the camp, 146 individuals underwent chest X-ray screening using a portable device for on-site diagnosis. In suspected cases, sputum samples were collected for further testing. In addition, 150 residents had their blood pressure checked, 130 were tested for blood sugar levels, and 110 underwent haemoglobin testing, ensuring a comprehensive health check-up. Medical teams from the District TB Centre, Moti Nagar, along with doctors and staff from the dispensary and State TB Cell, participated in the initiative. To support patients, nutritional food baskets were distributed to 10 TB patients, emphasising the role of proper diet in recovery. A street play was also organised to spread awareness about TB symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Health Deptartment says outreach will continue to ensure accessible care and advance TB elimination goal.
