India, May 11 -- Patriotic songs, chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and tributes to the Indian Armed Forces filled Central Park in Connaught Place on Saturday as the Delhi government organised a grand "Shaurya Diwas" programme to mark one year of Operation Sindoor. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra attended the event along with ex-servicemen, youth groups and members of several social organisations. Singer Ashish Kulkarni presented patriotic performances that added to the charged atmosphere at the venue. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said "Shaurya Diwas" was an occasion to honour the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces. Referring to Operation Sindoor, she said, "India gave a befitting reply to terrorism and its handlers, sending a clear message to the world that India will never compromise on its security, sovereignty and national honour." She added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, terrorists received a strong response. "Operation Sindoor was not merely a military operation, but a symbol of the emotions, national pride and honour of 1.4 billion Indians," she said, while paying tribute to soldiers guarding the country under difficult conditions. Kapil Mishra also praised the armed forces and said, "India does not provoke anyone, but if anyone dares to challenge the nation, a strong response will be ensured." He added that the programme was dedicated to honouring the "brave sons of Mother India" and reaffirmed the government's commitment towards building a "Viksit Bharat". The event concluded amid patriotic slogans and cultural performances celebrating the spirit of national unity and valour.
