India, Aug. 4 -- The Delhi Police and Haryana's Sonipat Police on Monday held an inter-state coordination meeting to strengthen security arrangements and ensure smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra and Independence Day celebrations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Shobhit D Saksena chaired the meeting at the DCP Office Complex in Outer North district. Senior officers from both forces, including DCPs, Additional DCPs, senior divisional police officers and station house officers, attended. The meeting focused on maintaining law and order, facilitating the safe movement of Kanwariyas through the area and strengthening security in view of Independence Day. Officers reviewed existing intelligence-sharing mechanisms and preventive policing measures to respond swiftly to any potential incident. Also Read - Delhi to set up 'Arpan' centres at Metro stns for old clothes, recycling Both forces agreed to share intelligence on anti-social elements, organised gangs, inter-state criminals, terrorism and anti-national activities, and to formulate joint preventive action plans. Contact details of duty officers and border beat staff will also be exchanged between adjoining police stations to facilitate round-the-clock coordination. Joint inter-state checkposts will be established to identify illegal activities, including unauthorised vehicle modifications, tinted windscreens and defective number plates. Police will also maintain databases of High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) agencies and CCTV camera locations to strengthen surveillance and traffic management. As part of preparations for the Kanwar Yatra, officers will monitor suspicious vehicles, Kanwar camps, liquor and meat shops along the route, as well as objectionable or inflammatory material displayed in public spaces. Such material will be removed promptly after proper documentation. The forces also discussed coordination on cybercrime, traffic management, public gatherings, protests and other inter-state investigations. The meeting concluded with a commitment to timely intelligence-sharing and joint preventive action to ensure security during the upcoming events.
