New Delhi, Sept. 30 -- The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) held its ninth stakeholder consultation on the Master Plan for Delhi 2047 (MPD 2047), with discussions centred on the River Yamuna, Green-Blue Infrastructure and measures to make Delhi pollution-free.
The consultation followed the directions of Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who has stressed that issues concerning the Yamuna and other blue and green assets in the capital can be addressed substantively only when people become stakeholders in their maintenance and sustenance.
The DDA briefed participants on key provisions of MPD 2047, particularly those concerning the rejuvenation of the Yamuna and development of Green Blue Infrastructure.
The plan takes an integrated approach to protecting, restoring and sustainably managing Delhi's natural assets, with the stated aim of providing environmental, health, socio cultural and economic benefits.
The provisions include ecological restoration, strengthening of urban forests and biodiversity, rejuvenation of the Yamuna and other water bodies, and conservation
of floodplains, wetlands and natural and constructed drains.
The plan also promotes nature-based solutions, indigenous species and connected green networks to improve environmental quality, climate resilience and urban liveability.
Pollution prevention and reduction also formed part of the discussions.
