New Delhi, May 14 -- The Delhi Development Authority has announced free entry for morning walkers at several ticketed parks, green spaces and heritage sites across the Capital till 10 a.m., in a move aimed at encouraging outdoor fitness activities and wider public participation in healthy lifestyles.

The decision was taken following directions issued by Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu as part of efforts aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Fit India Movement initiative.

According to officials, the waiver will apply to popular public spaces currently charging entry fees, including Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Baansera, Asita, Kranti Udhyan, Vatika, Atal Sadbhavana Park, Vasudev Ghat, Vaishnavi Park and the DDA Green area in Dwarka

Sector 16-D.

The initiative will also cover Amrut Bio-Diversity Park, Lala Hardayal Park in Jasola and Smriti Van.

Officials said the move was intended to provide relief to morning walkers, joggers and fitness enthusiasts while promoting a broader culture of health and well-being in the city. They added that all other DDA parks already remain open to the public free of cost.

The DDA stated that it currently manages more than 16,000 acres of green assets across Delhi, including over 700 parks, biodiversity zones, neighbourhood gardens

and city forests.

These spaces, officials said, play a significant role in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring accessible recreational spaces for residents across

the Capital.
