New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- Traders in Connaught Place expressed mixed views on Saturday's shutdown, with some supporting protests demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, while others flagged losses caused by tightened security and restricted customer movement.
Mohd Sahil, 23, a cloth seller, said they had received a Delhi government notice asking them to shut their shops for the day. He also supported the demand for Kumar's resignation.
Lalit, 39, who sells goggles, said frequent security checks had affected business, making it difficult for customers to visit shops and purchase goods.
However, some traders said they were willing to bear the financial losses in support of the protesters. A 30-year-old cloth seller welcomed the closure, saying people were speaking up for their rights.
Traders dependent on daily sales voiced concern over repeated shutdowns, while one accessories seller said the CEC's resignation could bring major changes, as others hoped normal business would resume soon.
