India, July 15 -- Dyal Singh College has emerged among the most preferred colleges in the University of Delhi's undergraduate admission preference lists, primarily because of its higher seat intake and broad range of academic programmes rather than a shift in perceived academic standing. Admission trends indicate that both the morning and evening shifts of Dyal Singh College together offer one of the largest seat capacities in the university. The college also provides undergraduate programmes across multiple disciplines, making it a viable option for a wider pool of applicants. As a result, it appears in the preference lists of a significantly larger number of students. Consequently, they do not feature in the preference lists of every applicant, despite remaining among the most sought-after colleges for specific programmes. A similar trend is visible in Sri Venkateswara College, which offers courses across the arts, commerce and science streams with a comparatively larger number of seats. The trend suggests that colleges with larger seat capacities and a wider range of courses attract more preferences, rather than reflecting any change in academic reputation or quality.
