India, July 21 -- A couple from Maharashtra were found dead inside a rented room in Delhi's East of Kailash on Monday morning in an apparent case of suicide, police said. According to the police, a PCR call was received at Amar Colony police station at around 9.08 am regarding the incident in Sant Nagar. Responding officers rushed to the spot and found that the door of the rented accommodation had already been broken open by a friend of the woman after the occupants failed to respond. Inside the room, police found the 26-year-old woman, a resident of Nagpur, lying dead on the bed. The man, identified as Anmol Kunda Patil (30), son of Gundu Patil and a resident of Maharashtra, was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope.
The Delhi Police Crime Team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) inspected the scene and collected evidence. During the examination, investigators recovered a suicide note which, prima facie, appears to have been written by the deceased man. Police said its contents are being examined as part of the investigation. Both bodies have been shifted to AIIMS for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. The families of both deceased persons have been informed. Police said further inquiry is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the deaths. While initial findings point to suicide, investigators are examining all possible angles before reaching a final conclusion.
