Chandigarh, Sept. 11 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday accused the Congress of having no policy or concrete agenda to counter the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that nearly 25 crore people had been lifted out of poverty under the present government.
Addressing a press conference in Panchkula on the 'Seva Sankalp Campaign', Saini said the Congress ruled the country for nearly 55 years but could not provide a count of people it had lifted out of poverty during its tenure.
He said Modi's 25 years in public life had been marked by service, good governance, welfare of the poor and dedication to the nation. "The Congress has neither a policy, nor an issue, nor any concrete agenda to counter the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Saini said, alleging that its leaders were now relying on derogatory remarks against the prime minister.
He said the Modi government had placed the dignity and living standards of the poor at the centre of its policies. In Haryana, nearly 1.60 lakh houses had been constructed and provided to poor families, he said.
Saini also accused the Congress of creating confusion over Covid-19 vaccines during the pandemic and said its electoral performance reflected the people's response. Highlighting youth-oriented initiatives such as Khelo India, Make in India and Fit India, he said Haryana currently had more than 12,500 startups and 19 unicorns.
On Punjab, He also criticised AAP's handling of the drug menace in Punjab.
