Balurghat, Sept. 22 -- A written complaint has been lodged at Gangarampur Police Station in South Dinajpur district against a youth for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The accused has been identified as Masud Mia, a resident of Kayapara under Gangarampur Police Station.
According to the complaint, the alleged social media post was made on September 17, when people across the country were observing the PM's birthday and lighting lamps while wishing him a long life. The complainant alleged that Masud Mia had posted a message wishing for the PM's death.
The complaint sought a proper investigation into the matter and exemplary punishment if the allegations were established. Police have started an investigation after receiving the written complaint. Complainant Bapi Das said that derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister, who has served three terms, were unacceptable and expressed hope that police would take appropriate action following the investigation.
