
Kolkata, Sept. 25 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari made several announcements regarding recruitment while speaking at an event in Burdwan.
The state Cabinet has made it clear that it would immediately recruit 12,000 policemen for the state police and 5,000 for the Kolkata Police. Adhikari said that 3,700 of the 12,000 posts in the state police would be filled by women.
Adhikari stated that his government would plug leakage from the exchequer, stating that the money would be used for development and social security sectors and that the waste and corruption of government money would be stopped.
He wanted pilferage from the mining sector to be stopped, and sand mines should be properly used and people should get sand at a reasonable price. The CM once again announced that a total of 1 lakh recruitments would be made in various departments of the state in the current financial year.
Adhikari claimed that during the previous government's tenure, about 36000 jobs were cancelled due to recruitment-related corruption.
Stating that transparency would be maintained in the new recruitment process, he said: "Carbon copies of the answer sheets of the candidates in the written examination will be provided. As a result, the candidates will be able to save their answers and compare them with the
results later."
He added that in the interview, the marks were reduced so that there is no corruption in the interview process and there is no nepotism.
He said that there would be changes in the Public Service Commission and in the School Service Commission so that there is transparency in the recruitment process. He said that interviews will hardly have 5 marks.
He later visited the Sarba Mangala Mandir in Burdwan town and offered puja as well.
The CM also narrated the industries that he was trying to rope in during the past four months.
