Siliguri, Sept. 7 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is scheduled to hold an administrative review meeting in Kalimpong on September 8 to assess the flood and landslide situation in the hills.
The first meeting is scheduled to be held at the Kalimpong Town Hall at around 12 pm. The District Magistrate of Kalimpong and other senior officials are expected to attend the meeting. During the meeting, the Chief Minister is likely to review monsoon preparedness, emergency response measures and the steps being taken to tackle possible landslides and flooding. According to sources, he will also be briefed on landslide-prone areas and the preparedness of the administration to deal with emergencies.
According to sources, Adhikari is scheduled to land at Bagdogra Airport, from where he is expected to travel to Kalimpong by helicopter.
He will then reach the venue by road. After completing the Kalimpong programme, he is expected to return to Siliguri.
From Bagdogra Airport, the Chief Minister will head towards Uttarkanya by road, where he is scheduled to hold another administrative meeting on the flood situation in North Bengal. During the meeting, he is likely to review monsoon preparedness and arrangements made across the region. He will also hold a meeting with the officials from the North Bengal Development department.
Although the Chief Minister is expected to travel by helicopter, police have made alternative arrangements for road travel. Traffic restrictions will be imposed in Kalimpong and Siliguri during his visit.
In Kalimpong, traffic restrictions will remain in place from 6 am to 4:30 pm. In Siliguri, restrictions are expected to be imposed from noon until the evening.
After completing his meeting at Uttarkanya, the Chief Minister is expected to return to Kolkata.
