India, Aug. 6 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Innovation Lab at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Pitampura, saying the Delhi government is focusing on technology-enabled, innovation-driven education to prepare students for future careers and nation-building. The STEM lab has been set up with support from the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, HMD India and The One Group. Former India cricketer and Chairman of The One Group, Shikhar Dhawan, along with senior Education Department officials, teachers and students, attended the inauguration. Addressing the gathering, Gupta said STEM education has become essential in a rapidly evolving world where science and technology are shaping the future economy. Rather than limiting students to textbook learning, it is the need of the hour to equip them with hands-on, experiment-based education, creative thinking and problem-solving skills," she said. Calling the facility more than just a laboratory, the chief minister said the STEM Innovation Lab marked the beginning of a new phase of innovation and scientific learning in Delhi government schools. "The STEM Innovation Lab is not just a laboratory but the beginning of a new era of innovation, scientific thinking and endless possibilities for Delhi's students. Our aim is to equip every government school with modern facilities, digital technology and innovation-driven learning resources so that every student is prepared to meet the challenges of the future," Gupta said. According to the chief minister, the lab will encourage students to develop innovative ideas, cultivate a scientific temperament and work on solutions to real-life challenges. She said quality, technology-enabled education would play a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Gupta also thanked the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, HMD India and The One Group for supporting the initiative, saying collaborations between the government and private organisations can significantly strengthen public education.
