New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- At a press conference held in Kolkata on Saturday, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) raised serious questions regarding the functioning of the police and administration in connection with the alleged murder of party volunteer Abdul Hafiz's father.
The CJP stated that the organisation wants to meet the Chief Secretary of West Bengal to present its key demands. However, if the meeting does not take place by September 7, CJP would gherao the office of the DM, Bankura, on September 8.
CJP also raised questions regarding the arrest of one of the accused in the murder case. According to the organisation, Hafiz had identified the said accused on August 25 itself. Despite this, CJP alleges that the person organised a programme in front of Indus Police Station on the day of Raksha Bandhan under police protection, yet the police have still not arrested him. "If an identified accused can move around publicly and still remains free, how can the common people expect justice from such administration?", CJP questioned.
