Kolkata, Aug. 28 -- Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand on Friday said public safety and fulfilling the force's responsibility remained its utmost priority, acknowledging that citizens have the right to question the police when they fail to ensure their security.
Speaking at a Rakhi Bandhan programme at Lalbazar, Nand highlighted the police's constitutional responsibility to protect life and liberty.
Around 50 Pronam members, 110 children from the Nabadisha initiative and Brahma Kumaris representatives tied rakhis on police personnel. Later, women rescued from traffickers also celebrated Rakhi at Lalbazar in the presence of Nand and senior officers.
