New Delhi, Nov. 1 -- The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Sunday restructured its organisational setup into a functional command system, with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to strengthen security and improve coordination with industrial units.
Under the new arrangement, supervision will be based on the type of installation rather than geographical locations, enabling specialised oversight of power plants, coal mines, steel units, refineries and ports. The functional commands include Power-I (New Delhi), Power-II (Kolkata), Coal (Ranchi), Steel (Bhilai), Petroleum and Natural Gas (Guwahati), West Coast Ports (Mumbai), East Coast Ports (Chennai) and Government Buildings, Museums and Monuments and Mass Rapid Transit System (New Delhi).
CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan said the restructuring would ensure better coordination and faster decision-making.
