Kolkata, Sept. 15 -- The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday conducted a search operation at the residence of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee's Personal Assistant (PA), Sumit Roy, in connection with the Salboni land-grabbing case probe.
On Tuesday, around 1:30 pm, Roy was taken to his residence in Patuapara, adjacent to Banerjee's house. Earlier, Roy reportedly confessed that the monetary dealings used to take place in Kalighat. According to sources, during interrogation, Roy further stated that he was aware of the activities of Banerjee.
Accordingly, the CID team took Roy to his residence and conducted a probe to identify the particular rooms where the monetary dealings used to take place. Roy was also grilled at his residence in order to get more clues.
The CID had been looking for Roy for a long time on multiple charges, including the Salboni land-grabbing case. After he was granted interim protection by the Supreme Court, along with a direction to cooperate with the investigators, he faced CID interrogation 11 times, following which the sleuths alleged before the Supreme Court that he was not cooperating. After his interim protection was withdrawn, the CID arrested Roy from Banerjee's Kalighat house.
