Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- In a major move to expedite government work and address the issue of pending files between departments, the state government has taken strict measures. From now on, all letters and files received from other departments must be disposed of within seven working days.
State Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal issued an order requiring each department to put in place appropriate mechanisms to monitor pending inter-departmental references and communications to ensure timely follow up. Secretaries will have to regularly review for better implementation of various government schemes.

All references and communications received from other Departments shall ordinarily be disposed of within a timeline of 7 working days from the date of receipt.
Each department shall establish an appropriate mechanism to monitor pending inter-departmental references and communications and to ensure timely follow-up.
Departmental Secretaries will have to ensure strict compliance with these instructions.
