Raipur, Sept. 15 -- For Meera, who sells earthen diyas from a small roadside stall at Telibandha Marine Drive in Raipur on Tuesday turned into a memorable day. As she arranged diyas at her stall, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai's convoy unexpectedly stopped nearby.
The Chief Minister looked at the earthen diyas displayed at Meera's stall and purchased one for the 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' programme being organised under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'. He also gave her Rs 1,000 as a gesture of appreciation for her hard work and self-reliance.
The Chief Minister said that street vendors, potters, artisans and local producers represent the strength of a self-reliant Chhattisgarh. Supporting such people means recognising the value of their skills and helping sustain their livelihoods.
The Chief Minister's spontaneous visit came as a pleasant surprise to people present at the Marine Drive. Without any formalities, he interacted with Meera and enquired about her work and family.
During the conversation, Chief Minister Sai asked whether she was receiving the benefits of Central and state government welfare schemes. Meera informed him that she had opened a bank account under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and was receiving Rs 1,000 every month under the state government's Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
The CM expressed satisfaction that the benefits of these schemes were reaching her.
He said government welfare programmes become meaningful when their benefits reach eligible beneficiaries directly and help improve their lives. Ensuring transparent and hassle-free delivery of welfare benefits remains a priority of the government.
Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has brought millions of poor and vulnerable families into the formal banking system and strengthened financial inclusion. Direct transfer of benefits into bank accounts has also made delivery of various welfare schemes more efficient.
