Kolkata, Oct. 7 -- In a significant development for West Bengal's healthcare sector, Charnock Hospital on Wednesday announced a Rs 100-crore strategic partnership with Philips to strengthen and advance healthcare delivery across its existing and upcoming facilities. As part of the partnership, Philips will install medical equipment worth Rs 100 crore at Charnock Hospital. The collaboration will also focus on developing critical care technologies and training and upskilling the healthcare workforce in Bengal. An MoU to this effect was signed by Prashant Sharma, Managing Director, Charnock Hospitals, and Bharath Sesha, Managing Director, Philips Indian Subcontinent, with the aim of enhancing patient care and enabling scalable healthcare delivery across the state.

Through the collaboration, Philips will support the deployment of integrated, digitally enabled healthcare solutions across radiology, cardiology, patient monitoring and enterprise informatics across Charnock Hospitals. The two organisations will also explore joint training and development programmes to strengthen the capabilities of healthcare professionals and technicians.

"Considering the technical capabilities, the advancement, the intent and the ethos of Philips, we have decided to identify them as our sole partners for equipmentation. This is a comprehensive handshake which goes well beyond buying and selling machines," said Sharma.

Charnock Hospital and Philips have also entered into an understanding to collaborate in critical care. Under this partnership, Philips will develop technologies while Charnock will provide insights from the ground, including practical requirements and information that can help shape the development of these solutions. According to Sesha, healthcare technology in India is advancing rapidly, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) increasingly transforming the way healthcare systems operate. He also highlighted the significance of the partnership for Philips, noting that the company established its first office in India in Kolkata 98 years ago.
