India, July 13 -- The Centre has approved 28 major infrastructure projects worth Rs.1,647 crore for Delhi under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday. The Central government has also sanctioned an additional Rs.756 crore as an incentive for the Delhi government's efforts to increase capital expenditure (CAPEX) through its own resources. According to the Chief Minister, the approved projects include Delhi Metro works, the Barapulla Elevated Corridor, the Karawal Nagar Flyover, EV charging stations at DTC depots and several key road infrastructure projects aimed at improving transport connectivity and public facilities across the national capital. Also Read - Vinod Nagar: Constable shoots wife dead on her birthday, flees Calling the approval a major boost to the city's development, Gupta said, "In a landmark decision aimed at strengthening the Capital's infrastructure, the Central Government has approved all 28 major capital projects proposed by the Delhi Government under the SASCI scheme. The total cost of these projects is Rs.1,647 crore." She added that the additional incentive recognises the Delhi government's focus on increasing capital investment. "Recognising the Delhi Government's efforts to enhance capital expenditure through its own resources, the Centre has also approved an additional incentive of Rs.756 crore," she said. "This decision will prove to be a significant milestone in further strengthening Delhi's infrastructure. It will accelerate development works across the Capital and enable citizens to benefit from improved public facilities," she said. Explaining the significance of the scheme, Gupta said SASCI provides interest-free financial assistance to states and Union Territories for capital infrastructure projects while also encouraging reforms and higher capital expenditure through financial incentives. According to her, the approval reflects the Centre's confidence in the Delhi government's commitment to reforms, financial discipline and efficient implementation of development projects. The Finance Department has been tasked with coordinating with the concerned departments to ensure timely execution of the projects. Highlighting the Centre's support, Gupta said, "The Central Government's support for Delhi's development is a strong reflection of the vision of 'Viksit Bharat'. The approval granted to Delhi, along with the additional incentive, demonstrates that governments working with a clear development agenda, transparent governance and sound financial management receive the full support of the Central Government."
