New Delhi, Oct. 1 -- The CBI has registered a corruption case against two CISF officers over alleged financial irregularities at the force's Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) unit in Dhanbad, following an internal departmental inquiry.
The case was registered by the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch in Dhanbad on September 28 against former Deputy Commandant Om Kumar Tanwar and former Inspector (Executive) Raj Laxmi Verma. Both officers were suspended in March following departmental proceedings.
The CBI action followed a vigilance complaint filed by the CISF headquarters on the basis of a complaint by Madan Singh of the All India Coal Mines Union, Jharkhand. Singh had submitted documents and a pen drive containing three audio recordings.
According to the FIR, the recordings contain voices resembling those of the accused and allegedly relate to monetary transactions. The electronic device and related material have been included in the case records.
The departmental inquiry found alleged financial misconduct during their tenure at the BCCL unit. The CBI has alleged that the officers, while serving as public servants, obtained undue advantage and engaged in a criminal conspiracy in connection with their official duties. The case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The investigation is being conducted by CBI Deputy Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar Pathak under the supervision of SP Bhawar Lal Meena.
